Spanish Word of the Day
Tuesday, October 09, 2012
rápido adjective, adverb: fast, quick
  • Rápido is the basic word to describe someone or something which is fast or quick:
un carro muy rápido a very fast car
    comida rápida fast food
  • Apart from using rápido to describe things and people — as an adjective — you can also use it to describe actions, in other words, as an adverb:
un carro muy rápido a very fast car
    comida rápida fast food
Comí muy rápido. I ate very quickly.
  • You also use on its own if you need someone to hurry up or get a move on:
un carro muy rápido a very fast car
    comida rápida fast food
Comí muy rápido. I ate very quickly.
¡Rápido!, ¡rápido!, hay que salir de aquí. Hurry up, hurry up, we’ve got to get out of here.
